Masterson’s Pub , situated in the center of Moonee Ponds , advertises itself as a stylish, alternative venue , but my latest trip at this establishment resulted in an experience I’d rather forget . While the bar may appear inviting from the outside , what I experienced behind its threshold was disturbing and far below any standard .
Cleanliness Issues : Filthy and Abandoned
From the moment I walked in , it was clear that cleanliness was not a priority at this bar . The ground was covered in grime , and a foul smell of decaying beverages and filthy restrooms suffused the entire establishment . With a smell of a mixture of excrement , putrefaction and illness . The counter , which should be the focal point of any pub, was littered with unwashed glassware and trash that looked like it had been ignored for a long time . The restroom was in even a more revolting state —overflowing , with a snapped lever and walls covered in what I can only assume was feces.

Many visitors have reported witnessing insects darting across the counter and proof of vermin in the bar and house area .
